Uruguay natural
Uruguay occupies the sixth place in the World Ranking of the Environmental Sustainability.
Because Uruguay is a water rich country, with a dense hydrographic network of rivers, streams and lakes, you will find a large variety of birds. The Indians named our country Uruguay, which means ‘land of the painted birds’.
In the departments of Rocha and Lavalleja you will find a world’s true rarity: forests of the ombu tree; this magnificent, strangely shaped tree is a loner, rarely found in groups of more than 2 or 3, but these forests have hundreds of trees.

Montevideo

With its hilly topography Montevideo is located at the coast. Here you can find tranquility along its long, broad beaches, shop in one of the many big shopping centers, enjoy a meal in one of its good restaurants of your choice and feel surrounded by its historic buildings especially in Ciudad Vieja (Old City), which has a immense colonial charm. Visit for example a concert in Solis, a beautiful theater built in the 19th century; recently renovated, you could listen the Philharmonic orchestra playing and/or watch tango shows.
No visitor should miss the old port, a lively colorful place where the city’s artists, crafts workers and street musicians hang out, to eat ‘asado’ in one of the many ‘parillas’.

Punta del Este

South America’s most sophisticated, renowned resort is located in Uruguay and it is called Punta del Este.
Amidst its green spaces, residences of different styles designed by renowned architects blend safely with the landscape: a combination of sea with fine sanded beaches, cliffs, forests and hills.
Here you will find peace and quietness but with the entire first class hotel, gastronomic and shopping services close by.
During the summer, Punta del Este will offer a wild nightlife if you seek so.
From the coast of Punta del Este you can see the Lobos Island, South America’s biggest seal, sea-lion and sea-elephant reserve. You could make a boat trip to the island, but you will always find these sea animals in Punta del Este’s harbor where fresh fish is for sale.
